EUR/USD Outlook: How ECB Policy Shifts Are Reshaping the Euro Trend

The Transatlantic Divergence

The EUR/USD exchange rate is heavily influenced by the interest rate differential between the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US Federal Reserve. Recent data suggests a divergence in their respective policy paths.

ECB's Dilemma

The ECB is facing slowing growth in the Eurozone, prompting discussions of earlier-than-expected rate cuts. This dovish stance generally weighs on the Euro.

US Dollar Dominance

Conversely, the US economy remains surprisingly robust. Strong Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) and sticky inflation have kept the Fed cautious about lowering rates, providing persistent support for the US Dollar.

Technical Outlook

The pair is currently testing a major ascending trendline that has held since early 2025. A breakdown below the 1.0700 level could trigger further selling pressure towards 1.0550. However, if European PMI data surprises to the upside, we could see a bounce back towards 1.0900.
